Rep. Bob Barr Puts In Presidential Bid

Representative Bob Barr – the former Republican – decided to change things up in the Presidential election and will be putting in his Libertarian Party bid. He stated this week that the voters are ready for something new and need someone who will be able to dramatically change things in the country.

Many people believe that this new bid might pull some voters away from John McCain because both candidates have some of the same positions on fiscal policy. Barr has hired Ross Perot’s former manager and has decided to ignore the discouragement that he has been receiving from some of the Republicans.

“I’ve heard from Americans from all walks of life … they want a choice,” he said at a news conference in Washington. “They believe that America has more and better to offer than what the current political situation is serving up to us.”

Barr first has to win the Libertarian nomination during the party’s national convention – which starts off May 22nd.

Barr said that if he wins he will immediately freeze any discretionary spending coming out of Washington and would begin to withdraw troops from Iraq. He also stated that he would consider cutting back all of the money that is being used by the federal agencies.
