McCain TV Ads Support Palin And Discredit Obama

Many were shocked when John McCain chose Sarah Palin to be his running mate in the presidential race. Since then Obama’s campaign has been questioning her experience. Yet, it seems that McCain was prepared for just this thing and is fighting back.

John McCain stated to the American people that Palin is more experienced and qualified then Obama and would be a better change for the White House. One of their new television ads describes Palin as an “Alaska Maverick” due to her record as being a “bipartisan reformer” and stating in the same ad that Obama was “most liberal” in the Senate.

In another planned TV ad, the campaign argues that as Alaska governor, Palin oversees 24,000 employees, 14 agencies, and a $10 billion annual budget - while Obama is a one-term junior senator. Pre-butting the experience ad, Obama communications director Robert Gibbs told reporters, “Well, obviously I think the assertion is borderline ridiculous. Look, if executive experience is really important on the Republican side, maybe she should run for president and John McCain should run for vice president.”

Gibbs went on to question Palin’s reformist abilities adding, “Governor Palin was chosen in part because she has a compelling personal story and can deliver an outstanding and moving speech, and there is no doubt that she will do that tonight. What she needs to do, however, is explain her reformer credentials in light of the revelations that she supported the Bridge to Nowhere and hired a big lobbying firm to win her small town millions in earmarks. What the American people will be looking for is whether she can explain how the economic agenda offered by her and John McCain won’t just be more of the same Bush policies that have left millions of families struggling to fill up their gas tanks, pay their medical bills, or make their mortgage payments.”
