We have less then a week to go before the whole of United States will cast their votes and we will see who will become the next President of the United States. With this comes excitement and just a few too many fears. In the state of Florida at the Alachua County Supervisors of Elections office the phones are ringing off the hook and residents are entering through the doors to make sure that they know what to do and get it done right.
But this week things are even worse because on Tuesday Governor Charlie Crist signed an executive order to extend the hours for early voting from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. They have also added 12 hours over the weekend.
“We’ve had to staff up,” an employee said. “We’re seeing about 3,000 to 4,000 voters a day.” At this time close to 50,000 votes have been cast. In order to avoid problems from the past and recounts officials in Florida are encouraging everyone to vote in advance.
